This question was being asked to me many times. How many students appeared in GATE 2010 for some engineering branch or how many student wrote GATE 2010? Does the answer for this question help one preparing for GATE 2011?
I think yes it will, in a way that it gives an idea about the volume of competition to the GATE aspirant in 2011. I will help one to set targets and get ready to face the competition instead of over or under estimating it.
Don’t worry about the too high number of student appearing for GATE, only 50% of them are really competing and rest will try to think about it in last month which they don’t do. Frankly speaking you are competing with serious 50% of students. Prepare well and be the best there.
Another good way to look at competition is too ignore the number or people competing and compete with highest marks. Even if you know someone who is genius competing with you don’t worry, thing may change. Always try to compete with highest marks and give your best and honest efforts for it.

i guess all who crack gate will not be able to get admission due to limited seats … so how many seats for m.tech are available in each branch?? and how many students get admission in IITs?? and where all is this gate score applicable in INDIA other than iits & iisc??
